Pensions Solutions have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Technical Pension Policy and Research Manager.The Technical Pension Policy & Research Manager is part of the team responsible for monitoring, analysing, and communicating, legislative, regulatory and policy developments affecting the UK pensions industry. The role supports Capita Pension Solutions (CPSL) in shaping thought leadership, working with technical teams, informing client facing teams, responding to government and industry consultations, and ensuring CPSL remains recognised as an expert, authoritative and forward looking voice in pensions.
The role contributes directly to CPSL’s policy agenda, helps embed insight across the business, and strengthens CPSL’s reputation with clients, advisers, regulators, and industry bodies.
Please note the role will be home based with some occasional travel.

What you’ll be doing:
- Maintain continuous oversight of developments from DWP, HMRC, Parliament, TPR and wider public policy sources (e.g., consultations, regulations, tax changes, codes of practice).
- Review relevant industry guidance and materials and major policy publications.
- Track broader developments in pensions administration, consulting and legislation, identifying risks, opportunities, and emerging themes.
- Support the Director of Pensions Policy & Industry Engagement in developing policy positions across CPSL.
- Draft CPSL responses to consultations, calls for evidence and joint industry initiatives.
- Provide commentary, analysis, and research to support CPSL’s industry engagement strategy.
- Working with the technical team to:
- provide guidance to colleagues (consultants, administrators, client managers) on complex pensions.
- Coordinate on cross functional technical matters relating to administration.
- Prepare and deliver monthly update sessions for teams.
- Produce high quality written insight such as Spotlights, Briefing Notes and technical bulletins.
- Ensure insights are accessible, relevant, and aligned to CPSL’s messaging.
- Support CPSL’s involvement with external industry.
- Attend meetings with external parties (e.g. regulators, industry bodies) representing CPSL’s policy position.
- Support in writing material for events and other external/internal activity.
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
- Strong understanding of the UK Pensions Landscape and latest developments
- Strong understanding of technical pension issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information for different audiences (including senior stakeholders).
- Strong analytical and research capability with attention to accuracy and regulatory detail.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
Desirable:
- Existing pension consultancy, administration, or pension provider background
- Understanding of the wider pensions ecosystem (trustees, advisers, regulators, industry bodies).
- Experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
