Research Manager Salary: Up to £50,000 + BenefitsLocation: Hybrid - ideally Central London (2 days per week onsite)Clearance: Active SC Clearance RequiredContract: 12-month FTC (likely extension)An international communications consultancy is seeking a Research Manager to support the design and delivery of an upcoming, large-scale strategic communications programme. This position of Research Manager offers the opportunity to apply rigorous research methodologies and behavioural science principles to inform campaigns that drive meaningful, measurable change across global social and policy challenges.
Responsibilities for the Research Manager:
- Design and implement mixed-methods research frameworks to understand audiences, narratives and information ecosystems
- Conduct desk-based research and literature reviews across political, socio-economic and media landscapes to inform strategic direction
- Develop and manage primary research tools such as surveys, interviews and focus groups, ensuring methodological integrity and cultural sensitivity
- Synthesise insights from quantitative, qualitative and OSINT data into actionable recommendations for communication strategies
- Translate complex findings into clear, strategic insights that guide messaging, campaign development and stakeholder engagement
- Collaborate closely with strategy, design, digital and MEL teams to ensure evidence-based decision-making throughout the programme lifecycle
- Support the creation of audience personas, behavioural frameworks and theories of change to inform programme impact measurement
- Produce high-quality research deliverables, including reports, analytical briefs and audience profiles for internal and client use
Essential Skills for the Research Manager:
- Active SC Clearance
- Proven experience in research using both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Strong understanding of survey design, focus group facilitation and data interpretation
- Ability to convert complex research findings into strategic recommendations and actionable insights
- Familiarity with behavioural science frameworks (e.g. COM-B) and audience segmentation methodologies
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to non-technical audiences
Desirable Skills for the Research Manager:
- Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in social research, behavioural science, data analytics, or a related field Experience working with OSINT and social listening tools
- Knowledge of Eastern and Central European socio-political contexts
- Experience using AI-powered tools for research, analysis and data synthesis
