Date:  Summer 2022

“We want to leave a positive footprint on the world, helping to improve people’s lives and reduce inequalities on a sustainable healthy planet”

About us

About the company

The NIRAS Group is a foundation-owned interdisciplinary consultancy firm creating sustainable development solutions in over 100 countries across the world. Part of the NIRAS Group, NIRAS-LTS International provides project management and consulting services across a spectrum of technical areas to support poverty reduction and environmental management services. These include agriculture, climate change, green energy, forests and landscapes, biodiversity conservation, digital innovation, private sector development, social development, and monitoring, evaluation and learning. We undertake social, environmental and economic research, provide advisory consulting services and manage international projects and programmes for a range of UK and international agencies. NIRAS has offices in 36 countries through the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe and N&S America.

NIRAS maintains a flat, matrixed organisational structure, with an inclusive, consensual and supportive working environment. Our values - we listen, we learn, we deliver - are the starting point for how we think and work, and essential for creating high quality across all work disciplines.

We care about making a difference. Our mission is big, and we need the right people to help deliver our work across the sustainability and development space, working in diverse, intercultural and often multi-disciplinary teams and projects across offices both internationally and domestically. We encourage strong team spirit, and support our team to contribute to the development of our business, to share ideas and progress in their careers. We are Investors in People Silver accredited with a strong commitment to effective management and development of our staff. Our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management accreditation demonstrates our credibility to seeking and maintaining sustained success. When you ask our team what it is like to work for us, they say:

I've worked with the company for over 20 years, as part of the LTS International team and now part of NIRAS. I've been firmly anchored by the values and the family-feel - being able to work with like-minded, committed people who are driven to make a difference in the world is really special. I have also had opportunities to evolve my role over time, to grow and develop in several different areas of the business.” – Kirsti Thornber, Managing Consultant, based in Edinburgh

"I have worked with Niras since August 2020. I have had the opportunity to work across the business - first with Niras-LTS as an Analyst, and then moving to Niras Tanzania in January 2022 where I now work as a Project and Business Development Manager. My favourite part of working at Niras is that I get to engage in a multi-cultural team and work on things that interest me.”

– Jon Waboso-Barrow, Project and Business Development Manager, based in Tanzania

I started working with Niras-LTS in September 2020, and really like the way we often get thrown into a wide range of different work. It’s a really positive and supportive environment, while also fast-paced and demanding. We’re always looking out for good people, and from as wide a range of backgrounds as possible.”

– Henry Freeman, Senior Manager, based in London
